It’s not too late to change some of the nasty tech habits you’ve developed over the last few years. Here’s a list of the Top 10 tech resolutions to get you and your gadgets headed in the right direction in 2015.
1. I promise to take my phone out of my pocket BEFORE I go to the bathroom.
We’ve all done it before. You forget your phone’s in your back pocket when you pull down your pants to go to the bathroom and … plop. Right in the toilet.
2. I promise to wipe the crumbs out of my electronic devices.
It’s just easier to snack and work at the same time, but have you actually looked at your keyboard lately? Time to clean out all those nooks and crannies, and dust off all your gadgets, screens, and ports while you’re at it.
3. I promise to update ALL of my outdated software.
Those little annoying software alerts are there for a reason. Take a break from your Candy Crush and update your device’s operating system and any apps you plan on using in the future. Don’t forget your computer updates and anti-virus software if you have a Windows machine.
4. I promise to delete my unread emails … all 3,422 of them.
There’s nothing more stressful than looking down at your email app and seeing a ginormous number of unopened messages. Time to get serious about cleaning out that inbox and alleviate some daily stress.
5. I promise to close out ALL of my apps.
You double click and there’s an endless stream of open apps at your fingertips. Stop complaining about how awful your phone’s battery life is and close out when you’re finished.
6. I promise to use a password manager.
You’re smart enough to know you should change your letter/number combo passwords on a regular basis. Problem is … you’re locked out of your email AGAIN. Stop trying 20 different password possibilities and just sign up for a password manager.
7. I promise to back-up my phone.
This one should really be a no brainer, but believe it or not, there are a lot of people out there who go for months without doing a back-up or uploading to the cloud. It’s like begging to lose all your favorite photos and data.
8. I promise to put a case on my new phone.
Yes, the new phone you just got for Christmas is shiny and wonderful and the last thing you want to do is to hide it from the world. Do yourself a favor and invest in a case so you don’t crack your screen, otherwise you’ll be visiting one of our repair centers sooner than you think.
9. I promise to delete apps I haven’t used in over a year.
Unless you’re a self appointed app collector, there’s really no need for 6 screens of apps that you never plan to use again. And don’t panic, if for some reason you decide you desperately need that closet organizer app six months after you’ve deleted from your device, you can always go back and download it again at no charge.
10. I promise to proof my texts before I send them.
Pick up your phone and look at your last 5 texts. Go ahead, do it. Do they look like they were written by a 7 year old? Yes, you’re in a hurry, but it only takes an extra second or two to write someone a coherent message.
Don’t forget the iDropped locations carry a wide variety of waterproof cases and other accessories that will make it easier to keep your gadgets in great shape this year!
