No matter how hard you try to keep your apps organized and your iPhone as streamlined as possible, those pesky default apps stand in your way. Every few months you face yet another failed attempt on deleting the apps that Apple has deemed “necessary” for one reason or another. Alas, there is hope. You may not be able to completely delete certain apps, but there is a way you can hide them from view.
Steps for Hiding Default Apps
Step One – Pull It Together
Locate all of the apps you don’t want on your phone (particularly your home screen) and drop them into a single folder.
Step Two – Bury the App
Press and hold the app until it begins to wiggle. Then drag it to the next page in the folder, and again the page after that.
Step Three – Hold On and Say Goodbye
After the app is moved, don’t let go. Tap the home button and the app icon will disappear.
It is unclear whether you’ll be able to retrieve these icons in the future. However, if you do find that you would like to add these apps back at a later date, you can search your phone to locate the hidden apps.
Although users have been asking Apple for quite some time for a way to legitimately delete certain apps, the company has yet to provide this option. Hopefully this hack will help you to organize and customize your home screen while we continue to wait for Apple to respond to our requests.
